Job Description: Our client, a renowned provider of health management and billing technology, is seeking a senior ServiceNow Developer to join our Team. This role is responsible for designing, developing, integrating, and maintaining enterprise ServiceNow solutions across the platform, with particular emphasis on CMDB, ITOM, Service Operations Workspace, integrations, reporting, and platform stability. The ideal candidate can translate business requirements into scalable technical designs, lead complex development work with limited oversight, and help establish development standards that improve the long-term health of the ServiceNow environment.
Senior-level expectations: This role requires more than ServiceNow administration or basic configuration. The candidate must be able to own technical design decisions, review requirements for feasibility and platform impact, document solution options, mentor other team members, troubleshoot complex production issues, and recommend scalable approaches that align with ServiceNow best practices. The right candidate should be comfortable challenging unclear requirements, identifying risks, and explaining technical tradeoffs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead technical design and development for ServiceNow solutions, including application configuration, server-side and client-side scripting, Flow Designer, IntegrationHub, REST and SOAP integrations, service catalog development, workspace experiences, reporting, and automation. Ensure solutions are maintainable, secure, performant, upgrade-safe, and aligned with ServiceNow platform standards.
- Develop, configure, troubleshoot, and implement baseline and custom applications to augment the ServiceNow platform.
- Maintain the ServiceNow platform’s stability and implement necessary changes.
- Follow ServiceNow development lifecycle practices, including update sets or application repository usage, peer review, technical documentation, testing, clone and upgrade readiness, change control, and avoidance of unnecessary customization that increases platform risk.
- Own testing and production readiness for ServiceNow changes, including unit testing, regression testing, user acceptance support, release validation, post-deployment monitoring, defect triage, and root-cause analysis for complex platform issues.
- Exhibit strong communication, problem-solving, and project management skills.
- Design and maintain secure ServiceNow solutions, including role-based access, ACLs, data visibility, auditability, secure integration patterns, credential handling, and alignment with enterprise security and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with the team and application owners to devise innovative solutions that meet business requirements.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in ServiceNow Platform development.
- Proven strong interpersonal skills with an emphasis on effective collaboration with team and business partners.
- Deep CMDB and ITOM experience, including Discovery, Service Mapping, MID Server configuration, CI class modeling, identification and reconciliation rules, data quality remediation, health dashboards, and integration with operational processes.
- Strong ServiceNow scripting experience, including Business Rules, Script Includes, Client Scripts, UI Policies, Scheduled Jobs, ACL-related logic, GlideRecord, GlideAjax, REST integrations, scripted APIs, and debugging complex platform behavior.
- Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to estimate development effort, sequence technical work, identify dependencies, communicate risks early, document implementation plans, coordinate testing, and deliver ServiceNow changes on agreed timelines.
- Willingness to undertake other duties as assigned.
- Required or strongly preferred certifications: ServiceNow Certified System Administrator and at least one relevant Certified Implementation Specialist certification, such as ITSM, ITOM, Discovery, Service Mapping, IRM, or Application Portfolio Management. Certified Application Developer is strongly preferred for candidates expected to own custom development.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience designing, building, securing, monitoring, and troubleshooting third-party integrations with ServiceNow using IntegrationHub, REST, SOAP, OAuth, MID Servers, import sets, transform maps, and error-handling patterns.
- Experience Implementing and Customizing the Service Operations Workspace.
- Experience in designing and implementing ServiceNow Workspaces and/or custom portals using the UI builder.
- Experience in Chat Bot Implementation and NLU.
- Expertise with ServiceNow Integrated Risk Management is highly desirable.
- Experience creating solutions with Now Assist, Virtual Agent, NLU, Predictive Intelligence, or other ServiceNow AI capabilities.
- Proficiency in ServiceNow Performance analytics and advanced reporting.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, a related field, or equivalent practical ServiceNow platform experience is preferred.
