Our client is seeking to hire a DevOps Engineer. They are looking for an experienced engineer to help take our existing DevOps and CI/CD systems to the next level. The DevOps Engineer will take the lead on DevOps projects while also helping to build a culture of de-siloing DevOps from application development. The primary focus of the role will be on the DevOps side, but the ideal candidate will also be able to collaborate on application development.

  • Develop and improve existing CI/CD and DevOps workflows (we use tools like GitLab CI, Docker and DigitalOcean)
  • Identify and implement strategies for measuring and improving DevOps KPIs like deployment time, security, and cost-effectiveness
  • Provide strategic input and guidance on challenges that arise around scaling, managing complexity, and architecture decisions
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment, including pair programming and mentoring peers
  • Build and maintain RESTful API endpoints, and integrations with external services
  • Write tests and practice TDD

  • Experience in system administration and DevOps
  • Proficiency with Linux/Ubuntu shell
  • Experience building and deploying commercial web applications at scale
  • Experience with Docker or similar containerization tools
  • Experience with DigitalOcean or similar cloud hosting platforms
  • Experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases
  • Proficiency in a backend language and MVC framework (our primary application is built with Elixir and Phoenix)
  • Strong communication and active-listening skills, with a collaborative approach to problem-solving
  • Strong documentation skills
  • Able to advocate for larger changes where needed, but also able to identify smaller pragmatic steps for incremental improvements
  • Able to excel in both an autonomous and collaborative work environment
  • You have a fun sense of humor and enjoy working in a relaxed environment

  • Experience in Elixir or another functional programming language
  • Experience with multi-tenant software architecture
  • Experience with Javascript and modern front-end development tools
