Overview
Our client will be hiring a full-time SQL Server Data Warehouse Developer with Azure experience, to help build an enterprise data warehouse in Azure. 

Azure data application experience is a strong plus.
 
This position will work with business stakeholders, product managers, and Power BI developers in order to envision, model and guide the build out of our data & analytics strategy. If you love taking data and turning it into insightful knowledge, this is the position for you!
 
The position is able to work remotely with an onsite expectation of 1-2 times per month in Portland, Oregon.
 
In the 1st few months:
Understand how the current data is being stored and re-engineer with Star schema or Snowflake design.
Migration project: on-prem servers to Azure cloud
Start rebuilding the data warehouse.  
 
Responsibilities

  • SQL Server data warehouse design and development.
  • Port on-prem SSIS packages to Azure Data Factory.
  • Help define and create a corporate business intelligence center of excellence
  • Support the finance team which includes Power BI developers.
  • Create, maintain, and improve performance of corporate Power BI models and data sources. This includes knowing when to recommend additional aggregation in OLAP cubes.
  • Troubleshoot slow running reports
  • Suggest solutions to overcome issues and solve future reporting initiatives
  • Document and maintain a reporting catalog based on MDM standards that ensures data quality and governance
  • Work directly with application developers, business analysts, SEO analysts and quality assurance personnel to deliver new Power BI models to stakeholders

 
Qualifications

  • 3+ years of SQL Server data warehouse design/development experience. 
  • Experience with database management systems, online analytical processing (OLAP) and ETL (Extract, transform, load) framework
    • Experience using Azure Data Factory for ETL
    • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server in Azure (managed instance)
    • Experience creating and maintaining ETL packages
    • Experience porting on-prem SSIS packages to Azure Data Factory

 
Preferred:

  • Azure Data Application experience.
  • Ability to create, modify and maintain T-SQL queries and stored procs and associated indexes and health checks
  • Crafting and executing queries upon request for stakeholders
  • An understanding of Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Crystal Reports or similar reporting tools
  • Experience with Azure DevOps and Agile development a plus
  • Source control
  • Knowledge of Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent
